My family gets together every Sunday for dinner or what we call toona’i (dinner in Samoan). Every week I look forward to a home-cooked meal by the aunties and spending time with all my cousins. For dinner I’ll usually throw together a simple dessert to take and share with the family. Here are 5 of my favorite go-to desserts that are fast and easy to make on a Sunday afternoon:
- Palmiers. A palmier is a French and flaky pastry that looks very fancy but is seriously so easy to make! All you need is a package of puff pastry sheets (thawed), sugar, cinnamon, and a rolling pin. Click here for a full set of directions.

- Chocolate Covered Strawberries. These are so fun to make and will be a hit with your family and friends!
- What you need: 1 package of strawberries, melting chocolate wafers, and sprinkles/nuts (optional).
- How to Prepare: wash strawberries and dry off well. Melt the chocolate chips then dip strawberries in melted chocolate. As an option, you can dip the chocolate covered strawberry in sprinkles or chopped nuts. Set strawberries on foil or parchment paper and let chill in the fridge before serving.

- Blondie bars. For a super quick and easy dessert I bake a pan of blondie bars which are basically a mix between a cookie and a chocolate brownie. I keep a stock of Trader Joe’s blondie bar baking mixes in the pantry when I’m short on time or for the occasional sweet tooth craving.
- What you need: 1 box Trader Joe’s Blondies mix, 2 eggs, 1 stick of butter, and an 8×8 baking pan. Throw in some chopped walnuts if you’re a nut fan.
- How to prepare: Mix together the baking mix, eggs, and butter. Pour in greased 8×8 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

- S’mores brownies. These require a few more ingredients than the other desserts in this group but its deliciousness and wow factor make up for the time.
