Still deciding what to do for the big game? Don’t sweat it. Whether you are excited for the football game, the food, the half-time show, the commercials, or a night alone with your favorite chick-flick, this guide has got you covered.
If you decide to join the party:
- Do your homework. First, you should know what teams are playing. This year it’s the New England Patriots against the Los Angeles Rams. Next, pick a team to cheer for and figure out why. I’m cheering for the Rams, LA represent. If you really want to score some points, know the top players on each time but especially know who’s playing quarterback (aka “qb”). QB for the Rams is Jared Goff and QB for the Patriots is Tom Brady. Bonus points: this is Super Bowl LIII (53) and is being played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Pick out an outfit. You need something cute but also comfy and stretchy to fit with as much chips, dip, and pizza that you can.
- Go with the flow. Cheer when they cheer and boo when they boo. Try and scope out a good seat where you can have easy access to the chips, guacamole, and ladies’ room.
- Bring a girl friend. If you think your significant other will be consumed by the game and communicate only by jock-talk, bring a girl friend along. You’ll need someone to gossip and binge-eat with during the 3-4 hour long game.
- Take a plate to share. If you do anything, take a memorable (in a good way) dessert or side dish to the party. Everyone will remember what food you brought instead of remembering when you asked why Kobe Bryant’s team didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. For something quick and yummy, try Trader Joe’s blondie bar or brownie truffle mix.

If you decide you want to party but without the pressure:
- Throw an all-girls party. Invite all your gals to come over in their favorite pajamas or sweats and invite them to bring their favorite dish or dessert. Set up with some cute football-themed decor like this inflatable buffet to keep a snack bar or drinks on ice. Since the boys aren’t around, there’s no pressure to use the lingo you learned off of google the night before or to know how many points comes with a touchdown. Score!
- Bring out a fun game. Choose one or two that you can play throughout the football game but also one that you can put on pause during the commercials and the half-time show – because let’s be honest that’s really everyone’s favorite part…

If you decide to skip the game:
Pour yourself that nice, warm bubble bath you’ve been meaning to take. Dr. Teals’ Foaming Bath with Pure Epsom Salt (with lavender) is my absolute favorite for long-lasting bubbles. If you’re more of a bath-bomb girl, choose a fun bath-bomb that’ll make everyone on Instagram jealous that they didn’t choose a girls night-in. If you really want to make that bath boujee, buy a bathtub caddy, light a relaxing candle, and watch an episode of your favorite Netflix show.
Next, get in your comfiest pajamas or sweats and put on that chick-flick your bf refuses to watch with you. Before bed or school/work the next morning, YouTube the game and commercial highlights so that you can join in on all the post-Super Bowl hype.
